Looking to walk Pen-Y-Ghent on Sunday 28th August (yes bank holiday Sunday). Please look at the following link Pen-Y-Ghent walk for an overview of the basic walk, if we are making good time and everyone is fresh, I would rather do the version Pen-Y-Ghent and Polver Hill . Looking to meet in Horton at 8:30am for 9am start, in the layby on the left as you enter the village from Settle.

The main walk will take us around the road to your right as you enter Horton, then left into the field for a steady and some times steep climb, there are 2 small outcrops that you can either climb up, or go around. Then you reach the undulating part dropping down before a reasonably steep climb. At the style we turn left and stat the climb up Pen-y-ghent, this is steep and a bit a scramble at times, but passable for everyone. Once on top of the scramble there is a short stretch to the Trig point at the top. From here we have a choice of three ways back down, 2 take us along the wall to the right and the other is straight down the other side. Depending on fitness levels and the weather, we will decide at this point which route to take.
